Our Team

Phil Arundell

Technical Director

Phil is one of our company directors, and is head of software development as well. He has over 35 years experience developing software, and sold his first commercial program, a game for the ZX81, when he was 16. His favourite programming language is C#, but he is experienced and proficient in over a dozen languages.

Phil has also been designing and repairing electronic circuits since he was a child, starting with Crystal Radio sets and progressing through repairing valve radios before moving on to designing and building things from scratch (including both digital and analogue devices.

He has also been a keen photographer for over 40 years and is the head photographer for our photography department, Xernio Photo. He is a big fan of Olympus cameras and has quite the collection of vintage Olympus film cameras which he still likes to use.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys running and has competed in 10K and half marathon events. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching most sports both live and on TV (particularly football, rugby league and F1), and has also coached local women’s football teams in the past.

Finally, Phil loves listening to music in a variety of genres, currently having a particular interest in Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. Over the past few years has developed a real love of hi-res, lossless music, and is currently in the early processes of developing a new audio device.

Jan Arundell

Finance Director

Jan is our other company director alongside Phil, as well as our head of accounting, and head of product design for Xernio Crafts. Jan has been doing accounts since leaving school in 1978, initially specialising in credit control within small and corporate businesses before moving up to the entire company accounting side of businesses as her experience and knowledge grew.

Alongside her vast accounting experience, Jan also loves designing and creating floral accessories and flower arrangements. After doing this as a hobby for a few years, she has now decided to share her designs with the world by making them available to buy through Xernio Crafts on our upcoming online store (watch this space!).

Outside of work, Jan has done a lot of charity work; she worked in a local charity shop back in 2019, she has previously participated in the Race for Life, and she sponsors both a guide dog and a dog at Dogs Trust. She enjoys keeping active through going to the gym and walking the dog, and she enjoys cooking and baking with traditional family recipes. Finally, Jan loves watching TV to relax (particularly Australian soap operas like Home and Away and Neighbours).

Emma Arundell

Head of Social Media and Marketing

Emma has been our head of social media and marketing for almost four years. She has a keen interest in the role that social media plays in modern marketing, and has enjoyed exploring this further in her new role. With past experience in the retail and hospitality industries, the importance of marketing has been emphasised to her throughout her career. She also has a Level 7 Diploma in Digital Marketing.

Emma speaks French and Spanish, having studied both languages in the past.

Outside of work, Emma is a keen hockey player who plays for a local team, and is also an avid football fan and loves going to watch matches when she can. She enjoys playing video games too, with her favourites being games from the Final Fantasy VII compilation. She loves music and plays saxophone and piano, having earned her Grade 8 with Distinction on tenor saxophone, and loves listening to a wide variety of music too.
